What Are The Different Types Of SEO Practices?

When it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) there are various types of SEO practices that you’ll see around various web pages throughout the internet. Those practices can be broken down into three core practices. Some would argue and say there should really be four because of local SEO, but to me, local SEO is a product of the three core principles. In case you’re wondering, the three types of SEO practices can be broken down into On-Page SEO, Technical SEO, and Off-Page SEO. Anything else, like Youtube SEO, Local SEO, etc… are terms that don’t encompass the core types of SEO practices.

On-Page SEO:

On-page SEO is the process of optimizing individual webpages on a website, as well as optimizing for global sections such as the header and footer of a website. What exactly does optimizing for on-page mean? Well, in most cases it means going through a sort of quality control process in which the website is checked for things that will give the website better authority and more trustworthiness, by incorporating an E.A.Ts philosophy to building a website.

In case you’re wondering what sort of things are on the checklist, well, every SEO business will have their list of things they check for, but it’s pretty common to check for things like a proper keyword strategy behind the title tags, meta descriptions, and content of that particular page. Making sure that the site is secure and configured properly, this is simply done by enabling an SSL certificate and testing it. The list could also include checking for proper N.A.P information on the footer of a website, and other things like making sure that a privacy/legal and terms of service page is set up on the footer of the website somewhere. I could go on, but you get the idea, basically making sure that the website and webpages are perfectly optimized, without over or under optimization. Technical SEO:

Technical SEO is the process of optimizing an entire website at a technical level, optimizing the things that typical front-end user may not be able to see or understand. Typical errors and warnings that are normally cleaned up, consist of making sure there is a CDN (Content Delivery Network) installed on your website for speed and security, making sure that you have proper cononicals setup, making sure that you don’t have any broken internal or external backlinks on your website. Making sure that your pages are being properly crawled and indexed. You get the idea, pretty much cleaning up all of the technical errors and warnings on a website.

Off-Page SEO:

Off-page SEO is typically considered the third type of SEO practice in the community. The process of off-page optimization consists of creating quality and relevant content that’s going through blogging and fixing individual service pages with pillar page content data. A lot of work is placed on conducting appropriate keyword research on specific topics, and then writing content around this strategy. Having great content will make the job of acquiring and building relevant and quality backlinks so much easier. It’s a lot easier to get someone to link to a website that’s constantly being updated with fresh content, and that’s highly relevant to the website they are trying to promote.

Conclusion:

In closing, when it comes to SEO there are three main practices in order to optimize and help a website rank better organically. Those practices consist of On-page SEO, Technical SEO, and Off-page SEO. If you stick to these three things on a fundamental level, you should see positive results in your campaigns within a few months.
